Today's Update

Just thought I'd post a little update on how things are going.....
Much, much better since the last post--Lydia is having more wet and poopy diapers because she's getting more milk (thank goodness it's finally "here"). We are feeding more often and she is doing such a good job! I am so proud of her :) As of yesterday, she had not lost any more weight so now we're just going to work on gaining some. She sleeps between each of the night feedings, which is absolutely wonderful for Chris and I to be able to get in little naps that almost equal 6 hours total of sleep.

Addie is still adjusting and has started to test us to see what she can get away with. Please pray for her and for us to know the right way to handle these little episodes. Overall, we feel she is doing quite a great job of being a big sister. She still LOVES Lydia Mae and comments on how cute she is at least 3 times daily. When Lydia cries, Addie says, "Lydia, what's the matter?" I just can't wait for the day they can actually play together.

I had my first little "test" of life at home without Chris today when he went to vote. Thankfully, he wasn't gone long, but I must say things went very smoothly while he was gone. He left at a time when Lydia was sleeping (not a feeding time) and Sesame Street was on so the only responsibility I had was letting Joe (our furry son) out to potty. I survived!

We're Home

We made our way home from the hospital yesterday morning around 11:00. After a stop at my parents house to meet Uncle Jake and see Papaw Jerry for the first time, we headed back to our house, hoping for a relaxing afternoon. Our first night home was a hard one, especially after a wonderful, restful last night at the hospital (thanks to nurse Melissa for making sure we slept while she loved on our Lydia). Addie actually slept through the night and thankfully, Lydia's high pitch shrills did not wake her up.

So far things are going alright...but I will say it is an adventure dealing with a toddler and a brand new baby who requires lots of attention. We took Lydia to be weighed today because she has not had any poopy diapers since we got home and only 2 pees (which this is a bad thing). She's also sleeping a LOT (except when we want her to in the middle of the night) so I figured we better take her in and check things out. My milk has not come in yet so we are supplementing a few feedings until it does. This is really hard on me and my emotions are kind of out of whack right now because of this, but I know that I will get through it and things will be wonderful in a few weeks :)

Trick or Treat!

Since we were still in the hospital on Halloween, Addie's first official "Trick or Treating" was spent walking around the hospital collecting treats from the different nurses stations. We wanted to be part of her first time, so my mom stayed with Lydia in the room while Chris and I walked around with her. She even said "trick or treat" and made sure to say please and thank you. Her favorite candy is a sucker so when we were trick or treating at the front desk, she said "sucker please" to the lady working. She got lots of goodies (and plenty of chocolate to satisfy mommy's craving!) and had a pretty good time dressed as The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Bubsis is Here!!!!

8 lbs. 5 oz.!!!!

Look at that HAIR!!

If you haven't heard, Bubsis has arrived....and SHE is just precious! Lydia Mae Knight came into the world at 8:55 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th. It was a LONG, sleepless night for mommy as I was having contractions 6-7 minutes apart for 5 hours (at home), but she was totally worth every bit. Around 4:30 a.m. something told me that waiting until they were 5 minutes apart probably wasn't a good idea since they were so consistent for so long and getting to be very painful. Good thing....I was already dilated 6 cm when we got to the hospital and moved very quickly to 9 cm only 2 hours after we arrived. Then after only 15 minutes of pushing, we got to meet our mystery bubsis GIRL!

She weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs. 5 oz. which was way above all of our guesses. Lydia is a chunky little gal with rolls here and there and she has TONS of beautiful, thick, dark hair on her sweet little head. At first site, we didn't think she looked anything like Addie, but now that we've gotten to know her better we can definitely see resemblances.

Addie and my mom arrived at the hospital shortly after Lydia was born and as soon as they came in, Addie said, "My baby sister! I love her!" Okay, it was enough to make me cry when it happened, but here I go again just thinking about it. I always knew Addie would make a great big sister and that statement and many others since have confirmed it. "I hold her" and "I feed her Cheerios" were a few of the other first phrases about her new little sister that made us smile.

The Bubsis Scoop

Yay for me, I actually made some progress over the last week and have moved up to a full 3 cm dilated. I had a feeling that nothing had changed so the news was surprising and good to hear. I will go back on Wednesday afternoon to have a procedure done that should send me into labor if my body is good and ready....so potentially we could meet our little Bubsis on Thursday, October 30th!!!!!!! Please say some extra prayers for us Wednesday night and Thursday!

Right now I am feeling super excited, anxious, scared, and worried, all of which are normal "mommy feelings" I'm sure. Everyone says they feel the "do I have enough love to spread between 2 babies?" when the second one is about to arrive, but I wouldn't say I am worried about that. I know God provides us with enough love to love each and every one of our children, just as God loves each and every one of us. Just a little curious how my emotions will do with watching my baby girl interact with the newbie in the family and cope with sharing her mommy and daddy...I am getting quite teary eyed thinking about it.

So..........we will try to keep updates coming as often as possible when/if we go to the hospital later this week. We'll have the computer with us and hopefully Chris will be able to put some pictures and info on here when the big event happens :)

Another Week Passes...

Here we go again entering another week of being pregnant STILL, but I'm not complaining I promise. I have so much enjoyed this last week filled with no appointments (besides my Dr.'s appt. Monday), no obligations, lots of snuggle and play time with Addie, and sleep-filled nights. Yes, I have actually been getting good, quality sleep lately...I suppose to prepare me for what's to come in the next week or so.

I am hopeful that when I visit the doctor tomorrow, she'll say I've at least made some progress and that my body is just about ready to deliver this precious miracle...but I know better than to get my hopes up. I will just have to be patient and see what happens :) I had one more sudden burst of energy today and was caught vacuuming and cleaning out the inside of the van by my husband. I don't think I have done such a thing since we've been married...he loves to do it so I always just "let" him. The smirk on his face when he pulled in the driveway and saw me looked like, "there she goes nesting AGAIN!"

My actual due date is a week from tomorrow, Nov. 3 (I voted early, thank goodness). New Look

I was bored today (it's been SOOOOO nice not having any sewing projects or much of anything else to work on during Addie's naptime), so I decided to change our blog background. I don't like orange and I'm not a huge fan of green, but I thought this one looked rather fall-ish and at least there is a little touch of blue (my fav. color). I'm sure it will be temporary for the season so enjoy it while it lasts!

Pretty sad that I'm blogging about my blog....but what can I say, I'm trying to pass the time for some reason ;) I am 38 weeks and 1 day so at least we know this baby is going to be good and ready and won't have to go through some of the things 37 weekers have to do. And hopefully bubsis will be a little more advanced at the suck reflex than Addie was and we won't have any issues there. Just can't wait to see this little person!
